Step 1 — Get Into Profit Your First Day

This is the real bottom line for most people, and is crucial! You need to do this, and help your new distributors to do the same. For most people in network marketing, getting into profit can take weeks or months. This doesn't work and leads to discouragement, failure, and attrition.

How do you get into profit when you are new and don't know anything about the business? Easy, you simply become a business owner, and with your network marketing start up you therefore become eligible for hundreds of legal tax deductions that can save business owners a few thousand Dollars over the next year!

This is your #1 most important network marketing start up activity for you and your new distributors. Avoid investing time and energy training anyone that has not set up their own tax system. You can use simple pendaflex folders, though I recommend you use a simple and inexpensive software program that makes it incredibly easy to legitimately save thousands of Dollars each year. I also like this because it is easily duplicatable, rather than having them waste time re-inventing the wheel by creating their own system.

Step 2 — Gather Your Tools

OK, now your network marketing start up is in profit, and you know how to help your new distributors to be in profit. Yay! The next thing you want to do is collect your business tools.

Every network marketing start up needs the following tools...

  • A simple appointment book.
  • Three way calling -- call your phone company for this.
  • A voice mail system that can take a message anytime day or night, even when the phone is busy -- call your phone company for this.
  • A telephone headset, as you will be talking to a lot of people! You can get one for $15 or so from most department stores.
  • Sales tools recommended by your upline. Don't go overboard, just a few DVD's, CD's or brochures to start. Remember to keep what you're doing SIMPLE and easily duplicated.

 

Step 3 — Write Out Your Goals

What is it that you are wanting to accomplish, and by when? Keep it simple and measurable.

For example, within 3 months I will talk to 6 people a day, I will have 20 customers, 3 active distributors and be earning $200 a month. Write this out and give it to your upline. Do this with your new distributors as well. Have them write out their goals. Never train anyone beyond this point if they haven't completed their goal statement. Goals are an essential component to success in any business venture, especially network marketing start up.

Step 4 — Create A Plan Of Action.

The ONLY income producing activities in network marketing are talking to people about your product and opportunity, and helping your team to talk to people. Everything else WILL NOT pay you. An effective network marketing start up plan of action includes the following components:

  • WHO are you going to contact? Will you contact people you know, or will you contact people you don't know? You are looking for the brightest, sharpest, most entrepreneurial people that you know of. People even smarter and more successful that you! :-) Working with people you know is the fastest way into profit. Contacting people you don't know will require more time, effort, skill and investment in advertising. Either way, you will need a LIST, and you will need to constantly add to it over time. Your most important network marketing start up inventory is your LIST.
  • WHAT kind of business system will you use? You will need a simple, step by step business system and sponsoring process to follow. The reason for this is that in network marketing, everything you do MUST be easily duplicated. Talk with your successful upline about the business building system they use. That is the one you should start with for now. Later, when you're making lotsa money you can improve on it. :-)
  • WHEN will you build your business? Get with your upline, take out your appointment book and schedule the times you will contact people together. If your immediate upline is not experienced, go upline until you reach someone who is. The way you are going to learn this business is by LISTENING to your upline talk to people!
  • WHERE will you be doing most of your business? Will you be taking people to meetings? Working on the telephone? Plan for travel time in your schedule!
  • HOW many people will you contact per day? I always found that if I made 6 LIVE contacts about my business with qualified people each day, it was always growing. When I was busy I dropped the number to 3 and my growth slowed but didn't stop. Anything less than 3 people per day and my business dwindled fast!

 

Step 5 — Get Started Contacting People — With Your Mentor(s)

You MUST, MUST, MUST do this step with your upline partner. If your immediate upline is not available, keep going "up" until you find someone. When you start out contacting people, have your upline do it with you! It sounds simple but most people don't do this, and then they wonder why they fail. It is SO much easier to learn network marketing by watching a successful mentor at work. There is NO substitute!

Step 6 — Teach Your New People To Do Steps 1 - 6

You may need help from your upline at first but eventually you will get the hang of it and be working your business like a pro! Duplication is crucial in Network Marketing.
