I started in network marketing in 1989. I was in the Navy, with the Underwater Bomb Squad Team when I first heard about the MLM business. I started part-time, selling skin care products to my macho Navy buddies. (Don't think I didn't get rejected - and ridiculed!)

So, one morning, I phoned her at 7:40 am, when she wasn't expecting me and she answered the phone. I said "Donna, before you hang up, I want you to know that I'm not going to try to convince you to come back into the business. I want to give you your money back for all the products and MLM training tools you have bought but in exchange for doing that I need you to answer one question for me with all honesty."

Donna said, "Okay."

I said, "I need to know - what happened? I need to know what it was. What did I do wrong?"

And she said, "Tim, I talked to my brother-in-law and I was so excited and I shared everything with him and my brother-in-law told me that if I joined multi-level marketing I would lose all my friends."

I said, "Very good. Thanks for telling me the truth and being honest with me and I will uphold my end of the deal." And I hung up the phone never to speak to Donna again.
